Bob Meddings is widely recognised as a multi-disciplinary artist, having worked in several genres and media, her resume includes a Fine Art degree in Painting, Sculpture & Ceramics, a Masters degree in Contemporary Art Practice, in film and video installation. For several years as an artist in residence and a university lecturer in Life Drawing and Foundation Studies. 

Her current work focuses on bringing together playful narratives with key elements and mediums to create provocative, two and three D work.

As a life long collector of curios, her work combines the obsession of hoarding 'stuff' junk, jewels?  Ephemera, objects, shiny things, pebbles, keepsakes, etc, with painting and collage, where she then finds perfect use for them in whichever vessel will work for the subject matter.

 Illuminated boxes, canvases, glass domes, jars, drawers and even a violin case!

Well travelled, with theatrical and Spanish influences, Bob takes great delight in presenting and staging her work as a performance, with the intention of delighting and captivating her audience.  

Pearls or diamanté are often to be seen somewhere in the work - an homage to her mother.

In 'Snow White, would you like to dance?' She uses the reverse of the canvas to create a stage. This is collaged by a copy of a letter from her great grandmother. Here, a keepsake Disney Christmas cracker toy shyly takes to the corner of the stage, in the glare of the lights.  While strangers in the night plays to the image of the Nutcracker Suite in the background.
